The Best Features of The Wenbeck’s Ballroom for Your Wedding Reception in Columbus
When you picture your Columbus wedding reception, you're probably imagining a space that feels both elegant and relaxed, where your guests can move easily from ceremony to cocktails to dinner. At The Wenbeck, our ballroom brings that vision together with features designed to make your celebration feel seamless and personal.
We've hosted hundreds of receptions here in Lewis Center, and we've learned what makes the biggest difference on the day itself. It's not just one element. It's the way the entire space works together, the flow from one moment to the next, and the features that let you focus on celebrating instead of worrying.
The Wenbeck’s ballroom is ideal for Columbus wedding receptions because it offers space for up to 210 guests, a built-in dance floor, a projection screen, smooth flow from the pavilion and patio, and practical inclusions like setup, linens, and on-site management. Its layout, flexibility, and convenient location help create a comfortable and well-organized reception experience.
Why The Wenbeck Ballroom Stands Out for Wedding Receptions in Columbus
A Ballroom Built for Comfort and Celebration
Our ballroom comfortably accommodates up to 210 guests for weddings and receptions. The ceilings are high, which keeps the energy light even when the dance floor is full. There's a spacious entrance where guests can arrive without bottlenecking, and a stone fireplace that anchors the room with warmth. We designed this space to feel contemporary and timeless at the same time, so your photos will look just as beautiful in twenty years as they do today.
The large dance floor sits at the heart of the room. It's permanent and built in, so there's no need to rent flooring or worry about stability. When the DJ cues your first dance or your band starts the hora, the space is ready.
A Floor-to-Ceiling Projection Screen That Brings Your Story to Life
One of the features couples use most is our floor-to-ceiling projection screen. It's ideal for displaying a slideshow during dinner, showing a welcome message as guests arrive, or playing a tribute video. The screen is built into the ballroom, so setup is simple, and the visuals are crisp from every seat. We've watched guests laugh, tear up, and lean in closer as couples share their stories on screen. It turns dinner into a shared experience.
This feature makes a reception feel more personal. Your guests get to see your engagement photos, childhood snapshots, or messages from loved ones who couldn't be there. It's a small addition that creates a big emotional impact.
Two Spaces That Work Together or Stand Alone
Our ballroom is one of two event spaces on the property. The other is the All-Seasons Pavilion, an open-air structure with retractable glass doors, heat, ceiling fans, and panoramic views of our manicured landscaping and ponds. Many couples use the pavilion for their ceremony and then move guests into the ballroom for the reception.
The two spaces are close enough that the transition feels natural. Your guests walk from the pavilion's 3,000 square foot stone patio, past the waterfront, and into the ballroom without ever losing the flow of the day. If you want to combine the spaces, you can keep the pavilion open for dancing under the stars while the ballroom serves as your dining room. The flexibility is yours.
What's Included With Your Ballroom Reception
When you book the ballroom for your reception, we include the setup that makes the day run smoothly. You'll have Gold Chiavari Chairs with white pads, tables for guests, cake, and gifts, polyester linens and napkins in your choice of colors, and a dedicated On-Site Venue Manager who stays with you throughout the event.
We also handle all setup and teardown, provide complementary load-in and load-out, include liability insurance, and offer overnight parking. The space is climate-controlled year-round, and we give you access to the upper ballroom balcony, which offers a different vantage point for photos or a quiet moment.
Your five-hour reception includes an additional hour for load out, so there's no rush at the end of the night. If you're holding your ceremony with us, your arrival time is flexible depending on when the ceremony begins.
A Venue Manager Who Keeps Everything on Track
Every wedding at The Wenbeck includes a dedicated venue manager. This person is your main point of contact on the day itself. They greet and direct your vendors, design your room layout, review your contracts and final details, and run your one-hour rehearsal.
If you're working with an outside coordinator, our Venue Manager supports them. If you're managing logistics yourself, the Venue Manager steps in as your day-of guide. You'll meet with them and your coordinator, if you have one, about a month before the wedding to walk through the timeline and confirm every detail.
For couples who want more hands-on planning support, we offer an optional Day-of Coordination Package. This add-on gives you early venue access at 10 AM, even without a ceremony, a detailed event schedule for all vendors, full coordination of ceremony and reception décor, monthly planning check-ins starting twelve months out, and unlimited calls and emails leading up to your day. The coordinator also packs up your décor at the end of the night.
Bar Service That Fits Your Vision
We hold a State of Ohio Liquor License, and we offer three bar service options. Most couples choose either BYOB+ (Build Your Own Bar) or one of our four curated drink packages.
With BYOB+, The Wenbeck sources your alcohol, mixers, non-alcoholic beverages, and bartenders. At the end of the night, you can take home any unopened beer, wine, seltzers, and champagne. Liquor stays on site per Ohio law.
Our drink packages include unlimited drinks for your guests, the first two bartenders, and all standard mixers and non-alcoholic beverages. Alcohol and non-alcoholic drinks cannot leave the property with this option.
If you're celebrating on a Friday or Sunday, a cash bar is also available.
Open Vendor Policy With Trusted Catering Partners
The Wenbeck works with an open vendor policy, which means you can bring in the professionals you trust. We don't provide catering ourselves, but we partner closely with a preferred list of caterers who know our space well. That list includes The Berwick, L.A. Catering, City BBQ, Hudson's Edge, Milano Creative Catering, Metro Cuisine, Catering by Milos, and Awadh Indian Restaurant.
If you want to use a caterer who's not on our preferred list, you're welcome to do so. We'll coordinate with Top Shelf Events to provide the service staff for your reception.
Add-ons That Make the Day Uniquely Yours
We offer a range of enhancements that let you customize your reception. You can putt putt during cocktail hour on our miniature golf course, which is consistently one of the most talked-about features after the event. Guests love the novelty, and it gives everyone something interactive to do while you're taking photos.
Other popular add-ons include our champagne cart, four arch options if you're holding your ceremony with us, hurricane vases with pearled wax for your tables, pipe and drape for backdrops, and two neon signs you can choose from. We also offer full event putting if you want the course available all night, and an island green add on for a custom experience.
If you're using the pavilion for your cocktail hour, you can reserve it for the full day or just the last three hours.
Why Location Matters for Your Columbus Reception
We're located at 1940 Little Bear Loop in Lewis Center, on the grounds of Little Bear Golf Club. The property spans 40 acres, and we're near Polaris Fashion Shopping District, I-71, I-270, and several hotels. That makes it easy for out-of-town guests to find us and stay nearby.
The setting feels tucked away, even though we're close to major highways. You'll have views of three ponds, manicured golf course grounds, and landscaping that changes with the seasons. Golden hour here is reliably stunning, and your photographer will have plenty of signature photo locations around the property.
We're also wheelchair accessible throughout, with restrooms in multiple locations and ample parking on site.
The Features That Make Winter Receptions Work
Our ballroom is climate-controlled, which makes it ideal for winter weddings. You won't need to worry about keeping guests comfortable, and the stone fireplace adds a natural warmth to the room.
If you're planning a winter ceremony, our All-Seasons Pavilion is heated and enclosed, so you can still have that open-air feeling with views of the ponds and landscaping without subjecting your guests to the cold. The retractable glass doors mean you can adjust based on the weather that day.
What Happens on the Day Itself
Most couples arrive for setup in the morning or early afternoon, depending on their ceremony time. Our team has already arranged the tables, chairs, and linens according to the layout you approved. Your caterer and other vendors check in with the Venue Manager, who directs them to the right areas.
If you're getting ready on site, you'll have access to our new Wedding Suite and Parlor, which offer separate spaces for you and your wedding party.
After the ceremony, whether it's in the pavilion or another location, guests move to the patio for cocktails. If you've added putting, they can head to the golf course. When it's time for dinner, everyone transitions into the ballroom. The flow is intuitive, and your Venue Manager keeps everything on schedule.
The reception runs for five hours, with an additional hour at the end for load out. Receptions can run until midnight. At the end of the night, your Day-of Coordinator, if you've added that service, packs up your décor. Otherwise, your designated contact handles it with the help of your vendors.
Conclusion:
Your reception should feel like the best party you've ever thrown, not the most stressful event you've ever planned. That's why we built the ballroom the way we did, with features that work quietly in the background so you can focus on celebrating with the people who matter most. It's elegant without being stuffy, flexible without being vague, and built for the kind of celebration where guests actually relax and enjoy themselves.
If you want to see the ballroom in person, we'd love to show you around. Tours are available by form submission or phone, and we can accommodate weekend visits. You can also view our full pricing guide and preferred vendors list on our website.
